Fairfield men’s basketball won their first game in the new arena last night, 67-55 against St. Peter’s. Students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and alumni gathered in the sold out Leo D. Mahoney arena.

After the big win, students rushed the court and celebrated with the team.

“For a team that’s been struggling with the fundamentals we were able to overcome and beat a team that was heavily favored to win,” said Joseph Westhoff, a junior student-commentator on the live broadcast of the game through Fairfield University’s radio station, WVOF 88.5fm. “The new stadium delivered an energy to the students and the team that gave us an edge over our competition.”

The stags play their next game against Sacred Heart this Wednesday the 7th at 7:00p.m.
