Students and faculty at Fairfield University have witnessed a new spectacle this fall. Mobilized robots are cruising around campus.

Fairfield University is the first college along the northeast to partner with Grubhub and Starship Technologies to offer food delivery by robot, according to an article published by FairfieldNews.

The article states that those residing on Fairfield’s campus can download the Grubhub app to create an account. After an account has been created, individuals can choose a campus dining location, place their order, and select a drop-off location.

The robots use machine learning to navigate streets, climb curbs, locate surroundings during nightfall, and travel in rain or snow.

In addition to credit and debit card payments, “Stagbucks” and “Dining Dollars” are also accepted for students looking to get food delivered right to their door.
