Associate Dean of Students Allison Berger sent out an email to Fairfield University students at 9:03 a.m. revealing that litter “complaints are abound” following yesterday’s Santacon event on Lantern Point. In a “time sensitive” message, the associate dean asked students to “help clean up the beach area as soon as possible.”

Berger is directing students’ attention beyond the point itself, however. Reef Rd., Fairfield Beach Rd., Veterans Park and the lot across from Penfield Pavilion were also described as needing “attention too.”

Included below are several images of Santacon’s aftermath, posted by Fairfield HamletHub on Facebook.

Community members came together with residents “flocking” the beach area to clean up the mess, according to another Facebook post by Fairfield HamletHub at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Make it a family project and teaching opportunity so we don’t end up with another thoughtless generation of students.

The post ends with a statement targeted at Fairfield students and the “disappointment” they have brought upon the community.

“Make it a family project and teaching opportunity so we don’t end up with another thoughtless generation of students,” states the Fairfield HamletHub.
