Taylor Swift proves once again that she never goes out of style! To celebrate the ninth anniversary of its original release, the current “It Girl” of our generation, Taylor Swift, re-released her fifth studio album 1989 (Taylor’s Version) on October 27, 2023. Laced with emotion and vulnerability, Taylor’s five added vault tracks make this her best re-release yet.

After her previous label sold her music to Scooter Braun in 2019, Taylor set out on a journey of re-recording her albums so that she and fans alike could enjoy music that belonged to her. 1989 propelled Taylor to a new level of stardom, marking her break into the pop-music world. Before October 27, 2014, the world only knew Taylor as a Pennsylvania-turned-Southern Belle who poured her heart into country music.

One of the most popular aspects of Taylor’s re-releases, besides the nostalgia of her old songs, are the vault tracks. Each “new” album features about five songs that Taylor withheld from the original version. The vault tracks in 1989 (Taylor’s Version) are arguably her best yet. All five of them delve deeper into the harsh realities Taylor faced when creating the album.

Before the release, many fans speculated that one vault track would be a remix of her single, “Style,” but feature her ex-boyfriend, Harry Styles, whom the song is about. After much anticipation, fans learned that the remix would not be happening– and for good reason!

The vault track, “Is It Over Now?” revealed more in-depth information about the pair’s relationship, and how the once-believed amicable breakup was an emotional rollercoaster. Her vault tracks also emphasize the hardships that Taylor faces in the media, specifically surrounding her dating life and the serial dater archetype the media paints her to be.

So what comes next for Taylor Swift? Well, she just started the South American leg of her widely popular “Eras Tour”, where she is playing songs from every album. Her second stop will be Rio de Janeiro this upcoming weekend. Fans are also anticipating her next re-release. She has two albums to reclaim: “Reputation” and “Taylor Swift”, AKA, her name and her reputation.

Fans can be on the lookout for an announcement at any time, seeing that the mastermind herself is always miles ahead of the rest of us!
